Prison Journal: 14 January 2019 – Monday

473 down, 257 to go

Woke up at 2:40 to pee and again at 536 because I’ve been ruined by Nebraska (couldn’t sleep anymore). At least breakfast as decent: French toast and Captain O’Krunch. (Nebraskans make liberal use of the “K” in their symbology)

Nebraska legislature debating whether they should restrict what is allowed to be labeled as meat. Of course, there intent is to use the power of government to choose Nebraska cattle and pig farmers as winners in the market and to choose vegetable-based “meat” as losers. They love capitalism when they can use it as a hammer to bludgeon people they don’t like into submission and poverty wages, but when it comes to them having to fairly share a market with out producers, they prefer to stack the deck against their own favor with a little fascism. Also, if they REALLY cared about the absolute correctness of food labeling, they would be visiting right here in their own concentration camps for what is labeled as food is not at all food.

Dumpster-Fire’s shutdown is now a record. I sure how the Democrats don’t fold like pussies. If the executive can force specific legislation, then the democracy is over. Who am I kidding – it’s not a democracy or a republic anyway.

Just watched “Troll” – wow, what a shitty movie. But it had Ben Stone from Law & Order (Michael Moriarty) and the main actor’s name was “Harry Potter”. ha.

Wrote a grievance for Richard Perman to get his address book back. He owed me like $2.75 in loaned quarters too. He was trying to coerce me into helping with the Monday truck. I said I would as long as I get paid.

There is a new guy in our room today. A very delicious-looking black guy. Mmmmm.

Lots of things to be thankful for today. A new roommate today who is easy on the eyes (though might have a bad attitude – too early to saw for sure). Then at dinner I sat at a table near the entrance and this superhot and totally adorable guy sits at my table despite many other options. He starts talking – basic “how’s it going” stuff. When the perfunctory stuff is over I asked if he has an outside job as I thought I’d seen him come through with the T-dorm people. He says that he is on education release and is studying IT. I said “oh, I worked in IT for 25 years” and I studied Computer Science, etc. He asked about how much math he would need and the discussion continued from there. As I was finishing up and leaving I offered to help him with the math or computer science if he wanted. I hope he needs help!! ha 🙂

The other good news is that I talked to a Gary Cross, an at-large sponsor. He is going to take me to Barnes and Noble on Thursday, 24 January from noon to 3pm. I also wrote down Arby’s. He seems like a nice guy – very personable. I can’t wait!
