The kitchen here is vile The bread was expired by two days; it had Dec 31 and today is Jan 2. The COs definitely don’t care – they went on like it wasn’t a problem. Later the morbidly obese kitchen CO Sallie was eating ships out of the serving trays – gross much?

Mailed visiting forms and rules to mom. Need to finish the letter to her too. Sure hope she can come visit!

Roomie E is going to be going on parole tomorrow. Excited for him! He’s so damn fine, though; I’ll miss lusting after him.

Called in sick today. I think I may have a strep infection again. I told Shedamin (sp), unit B CO, who said go tell kitchen. I told kitchen CO (tall, solid whit guy with glasses) and he said send a kite to Medical. I told them both strep is highly infections and I’d had it 4-5 times in the last few years.

Called in sick again – actually I just told them I suspected I had strep infection and waiting for “Medical” to acknowledge my IIR. Kitchen CO Troudy apparently did nothing with his and my discussion yesterday about the same topic. They had marked me as ‘no show’. What a bunch of stupid asses. Kitchen manager Sally said not to work since that’s highly contagious (duh – I told them that 3 times).

Jeff Sessions announces DOJ will start prosecuting marijuana under federal laws in states where its legal under state law.

Got a letter from JH.

Got a medical pass at 3pm. Was negative for strep throat. The nurse said my tonsils were monstrous and had craters, probably from a previous strep infection.

We got an adorable cellmate today. Yum.

OMG… new cellmate L is so fucking adorable. He’s been here like two days and slept 95% of it , but so adorable. I think his “crime” was meth use too. I was telling P how good sex on meth was and he chimed in from the his bed that he thought so too.

Kitchen again today. Kitchen boy is also hotter all the time. He walked by me a few times but never said anything. Roomie C asked him if he was gay and he said no, but he said it slowly and suspiciously so C thought that he was just afraid of why he was asking.

Yesterday I applied to CSI sewing shop and CSI woodworking shop. Monday I’ll apply at the canteen – P said they’re still taking applications and he has a friend in there.

Apparently some kind of fireworks display by City of Omaha tonight. Perhaps they have interned their billionth slave or something that a ghoulish Nebraskans would find cause to celebrate like that.

Roomie P told me the story of “T’s cousin”, aka “The Troll on the Bridge”. A guy whose name they don’t know, but apparently kept all his possessions on him in his upper bunk. P would wake up to a bunk full of candy and food wrappers that he’d have to wipe off himself. He counted[?] chips on his bunk to add to burritos he was making. His stuff was constantly falling down on P.

Did nothing all day long but watch TV. Lunch was edible: sloppy joes and cheesy potato soup. Tator tots and real chicken breast for dinner. Would have been wonderful if it had been fully cooked.

Confirmed from the corrupt lion’s mouth that kitchen is a common place for staff theft. About 10 officers were sitting in the dining room after count cleared (and only the dishwashing people, me, and Mark the spork roller were still sitting on the dining side, and Joe, the kitchen CO, made a joke about people not paying for their food, something to the effect “oh yeah, TODAY you guys forgot to put your tickets in for lunch,” where TODAY was exaggerated and the whole crowd of them burst into a hearty laugh. I counted 10 COs sitting there; from kitchen: Joe, Towdy, and the only skinny kitchen guy (3) and the rest yard COs, including the big meat head guy with the upward angled haircut; a couple new ones and the rest the usual suspects. The chunky lady that always pays was not there among them.

Called mom. Talked about my 401k – [employer] didn’t accept my power of attorney; a letter on the way explaining it. She sent her visitation forms in. She suggested a bankruptcy, which means that I must have been getting a bunch of mail from creditors (she mentioned WF, in particular). She also said they talked about getting a car that I could use eventually and take over payments, since my car was going to be repossessed obviously.

Roomie P said something lewd-funny to the kitchen boy at lunch today, despite my asking him not to. Kitchen boy didn’t look in my direction for the rest of the shift. Guessing he’s not interested. ha.

Good thing that I have my Hep A and B vaccinations. The sewer was backing up out of every drain in the kitchen. They had 2-3 shop vacuums sucking up the sewage water and people with “waterbrooms” pushing the slop around. The kitchen manager Sally switched us to Styrofoam cups and plastic spoons and forks. They somehow still “washed” the trays, but that process looked very sketchy. Despite not having clean water or a way of sanitizing them, the dishwashers brought some mucky-looking trays to be reused. We walked around in the kitchen in a film of filth and kept serving the eggrolls, rick, and chicken. This place is so gross and I’m sure they’ll make someone very sick if they haven’t already. It was ironic that prior to the sewer backing up, Sallie posted a sign in the dining area saying “K2: Not fir for human consumption” – it probably would have been far more fit for consumption that today’s Venetian Canal-themed meal, including the smell of shit and decomposition.

Roomie P said today (1312) they finished building a box with a lock for newspapers because the officers themselves had been stealing them. Rose from the front office is the one from the prison front office who had to request that the box be made to the maintenance crew that P is on.

Roomie C had his first reading of the charges from the kitchen theft. The “FSM” (Sallie) is so dumb. I read her description of the events leading up to her charging him and its now obvious why the inmates get away with stealing. (Possibly also how the officers get away with stealing too?). She can’t have more than a fourth-grade writing level.

Worked today. Reading Grisham’s “The Appeal”. False missile alarm sent out in Hawaii – CNN is beating the Hell out of that story. 24-hour news is the bane of peace and tolerance.

Roomie P and C had to do UAs today. P said they use a faulty process where the officer dips a stick into one person’s urine, then a cup of water, then another person’s urine, then the water again, such that each person’s urine contaminates the reading of each person’s test that follows. Nebraskans aren’t smart enough to understand how molecules and microbes move about reality.

Talked to mom and dad – [employer] didn’t accept the POA because the notary signed the document with a different date than my signature and date, so I will have to sign and have it notarized again. There are some letters from Optum Bank, too, that she’ll check out.

“How the Right Lost It’s Mind” was reimbursed on her credit card. Didn’t say why. I’ll check with the librarian to see if there is any prohibition on that book. Nazis.

Nebraska is home to racists. Today for MLK holiday, they served fried chicken patties, cabbage soaked in some kind of grease, and corn bread. If they served fresh fruit in prison, I guarantee these racists would have put out watermelon too.

My back is killing me today. I took some ibuprofen and that helped.

MLK: “Let no man pull you so low as to hate time” (too late… well, I guess my hatred is for a woman, so I’m good). Racism as the intersection of racial prejudice and power. Interesting: quite a functional definition for racism that perhaps should be more widely adopted. Would make discussions involving race a little more practical if there was some starting definition.

Rick Wilson (R): “shithole or shithouse – it doesn’t matter; it’s the “shit” part that’ the problem” (on Don Lemon’s show). Don Lemon is really a crappy interviewer. If someone makes points he doesn’t like, even when they make them completely respectfully and civilly, like Isaac Ferris, he cuts them off continuously so their point can’t be heard. He abuses the “don’t have anymore time” to silence others’ opinions.

Put in my request to transfer out of the kitchen and transfer to a unit job (porter). Kitchen signed it and UCW Shaderman signed for the unit porter side. I then turned the form into Edwards. She tried to give me grief about changing jobs. She asked “why do you want out of the kitchen.” I said it’s disgusting, to which she asked, “you eat there, don’t you?” I said once a day at most plus it’s full of thieves: employees and inmates. She said she’d sign it and get back with me.

There was some kind of situation right before was talking to her. Some inmate named Howard (an inmate that cozies up to the state employees) told on someone for doing something in the bathroom that caused the Captor to stick his head under the toilet stall at another inmate. That other inmate promptly started yelling and screaming through the unit and that cascaded to others yelling and screaming. The Howard guy has been hated on the unit for as long as I’ve been here.

Kitchen-wise I should have included these reasons as well: (1) a lack of proper hygiene (e.g. the day of serving in several inches of sewage), (2) daily rapes by Corporal Dermody, (3) high wage in the unit: 1.25/4-hours vs 1.25/1-hour), (4) extremely misogynistic discourse by state employees in the dining area, and (5) discomfort with working around constant theft by employees (meals) and inmates (raw food).

Second to last day in the kitchen – one more day of that particular torture. Rapist Dermody was there again – I hate him more and more every day. Soon he’ll be right up there with Susan Strong, Satan’s master (and then I’ll have failed MLK’s test).

Inmate C got kicked out of SAU program and is coming back to J3B unit. So another opening in SAU. Guess not – he refused to lock down because he wants to force them to move him to NSP.

Finished “The Appeal” – depressing – it was a Tragedy. I feel cheated 🙂 Never read a Grisham book with a horrible ending before.

I really miss post-it notes!

Last day in the fucking kitchen. Just in the nick of time. I had a fight with a (hot) black guy about dirty cups. He was trying to say a whole tray was dirty and take it off the stack. I preventing him from moving it and he tried to shove it in me and I held it in place. His friends kept him from escalating. I’m glad because I’m sure he would have beat the daylights after me, especially when I would have tried to grope him during the melee. Ha.

No tortilla shells on the canteen. I did get my shower shoes and sweat pants.

Shutdown looms. Interesting CNN thing asking some Iowans (old, white men) about Trump and his performance. They are starting to acknowledge their mistake (Monticello, Ia).

Starting unit work today – well actually, my off days on this job will be Thu/Fri, so actually off today. My task will be AM-rail wiping (M-We) and AM trash S/Su).

Mitch McConnell is the Devil, well, a devil. I feel the need to share anything I heard him speak.

H3N2 is causing a lot of hospitalizations. I wonder if it will hit the prison system. 142 people have died from it already.

Amazon announced that they will not be advancing Omaha to the next round of their new headquarter city selection process. HA! I love that Thank you, God! Asshole Nebraskans deserve all the bad things that can happen to them.

Cape Town, South Africa is likely to soon become the world’s first major city to run out of water. They’re currently under a 23 gal/day restriction and next week that goes down to 13 gay/day. Americans use 100 gal/day. The reservoir they use is almost empty and evaporation is way up to due to increased temperature for a long period of time.

Started trash job (S/Su). It took about 15 minutes for the same pay that kitchen gave for 4 hours of enslaved labor. Yesterday P said there were 12 open spots in SAU and that they would likely be moving people into them Monday. Fingers crossed.

Tacos with rotten lettuce for lunch – yea!. Called DP – not much going on there Apparently [city] got slammed by snow and cold weather. Still working on his cabin, including thinking about adding a D&D gaming room.

Our room was searched by the Nebraska Gestapo (although it seems like this was a good guy; he was at least half-way decent about it). Last night Room 8 got shook down by Gestapo officers and rotten cunt, Charlin.

Apparently there was just a fight between Cuba and a black guy. I don’t know and didn’t get up to check it out. I just heard the noise and the guard yelling to stop. According to Paul the fight itself was totally underwhelming.

One of the ways the prison tortures us is sleep deprivation. They leave the main lights on all night. Then several times each night, every night, they flood the rooms with bright lights that are guaranteed to wake us up and come around dragging their feet, clicking their clipboards, slamming doors, laughing, and any number of audio-assaults to wake people up. The lights and noise-making start again early in the morning.

Roomie C transferred out of our room today. It was in somewhat of a cloud of controversy as it appears that he stole a block of provolone from me. There wasn’t conclusive proof, but it was him. H moved into the room today, too. Watched “The Martian” – great movie.

Count was way late all day long. They need to hire mornings with more toes. I supposed that’s the best they can find in Nebraskabama.

[Editor’s note: I asked what this meant and was told that it was a bit of passive (bordering active) aggressive humor directed at people who exited an inmate’s room and didn’t not take all possible care to avoid sound. He said it was very much an issue in that particular room and P would take the role of teacher in showing the “student” how to properly close a door when entering or exiting an inmate room. P would give the same demonstration to guards when they slammed the door behind themselves]

Talked to mom and asked her to order a few books: (a) Organic Chemistry, (b) Learning Mandarin/Chinese, (c) History of China, and (d) The Evangelicals. Still been too cold there to do much outside.

I was supposed to work this morning doing the rail wiping, but I was so tired because of my ankle starting hurting like a bitch around 4am or so. Not sure if it is related to the [med] or something else like the Gatorade or calcium tablets.

Liking the Oceanography book I got from the library on Monday. I guess it shouldn’t matter it was published in 1825…. could oceanography have changed that much?

I also wrote an IIR to Medical because of my foot/ankle pain yesterday. I wrote it as urgent, although today my ankle feels much better.

Wrote to JH (told him about D&E-ACLU lawsuit and the story about my religious meal request).

Started watching the bi-monthly movie – this one is “It” (Stephen King). Dinner was called in the middle of it and as I didn’t really care for it, that was the end of that. Roomie H used the n-word today – Nebraska trash.

Kept on the ibuprofen proactively so didn’t notice any foot/ankle pain today. Napped all day on and off. Read Ch 3 of the Oceanography book (global plate tectonics). Tried to recite all the US presidents in sequence from memory but was having some trouble some of the ordering in the ones between Reconstruction and WWII. Damn, the meth must have killed those cells.

Didn’t take any ibuprofen last night so I woke up with terrible ankle pain. Sill no contact from medical station here. I guess Dr. Mengele is too busy for me.

Lunch at prison cafeteria was live and onion – wtf! Wrote up a grievance for this shit-meal of digestive organs of roadkill and no lactose-free milk for breakfast. Here is the text:

“I wonder if the food is supposed to be or allowed to be part of the punishment. I haven’t been given a breakfast I can digest since I got to Nebraska. According to Cheryl Flynn PA-C there is no option for lactose-intolerant people and as the breakfast is 90% cereal, I have to skip that meal.

Now, the kitchen is serving random digestive/execratory from unnamed animals, e.g. liver. Was the supplier out of gall bladders, rectums, or lung tissue? Was it a cow liver, a chicken’s liver, a human liver? If you’re going to serve road-kill or random offal from the cutting room floor, you should offer a protein substitute, like peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Did my job wiping rails. Someone yelled that I sprayed them from the balcony. I said sorry, but the dumpy-looking moron yelled back “you did that on purpose”.

Turned in IIR to refill prescriptions and one requesting change back to [med] since the other might be causing my ankle pain and mentioned they completely ignored my last IIR.

Loaned Roomie L 2 AAA batteries and C 2 AA batteries. I doubt I’ll see them again. L is so beautiful, I don’t care.

Andrew McCabe resigns!

Got job at the canteen. “Interview” was a skills test – had to fulfill one order. He said “take your time” as he wasn’t looking for speed. Apparently he wasn’t looking for accuracy either cause I got one item wrong (sausage with cheddar instead of just sausage). He offered me the job and said to be there tomorrow (Tues) morning at 8am.

A note showed up (posted by evil Kathy Bates look-alike, named Sanders) that the whole room would be written up if pornography was found in the room. It caused quite a stir as well as a lot of discussion about the definition of pornography. This place seems more like a bad Abbott & Costello video everyday – except that it just never ends.

Called mom and dad. Garage is done. The roofers got shingling done in six hours and they, with K & C, finished the siding. It’s been too wet to get the ground ready for the foundation. She sent me $200 and ordered all the books I asked for.

Moving to SAU today. Worked on inventory in the canteen. Moved to J3A-4AL after early lines of lunch. Finally got replies from “Medical”. The ones about [med] change say they’re going to contact a real doctor. The other about the refills say the they should be at pill call tomorrow.
